The Aio Koa Way
Sleeping Seed, Wild Flower

The Same Principles That Make A Seed Grow, A Flower Bloom, A Forest Regenerate Are The Same Principles That Can Apply To Many Areas of Life

The words Aio Koa derives from the Maori and Hawaiian language.

Aio = Inner peace, sleeping baby, dormant seed, the universe.
Koa = Joyful feelings, happiness, blooming flowers, Hawaiian warrior

For me, Aio Koa is the energy of life that sleeps and awakens. Like a sleeping seed that blooms into a wild flower. Or a sleeping baby that soon wakes up the whole house. It is about the feeling of being fully asleep followed by being fully awake. Each one flowing into the other. Just like the seasons. The seeds grow. Flowers bloom and wither. Fruits form and ripen. Leaves turn red and fall. Old trees die. New ones grow. A forest regenerates. This is the cycle of life at it's fullest. Here is a picture of the Aio Koa I sketched in my notebook.

To me Aio Koa means sleeping seed, wild flower. It could just mean seed, flower. The name Aio Koa is not so important. It is just a signpost pointing to the seeds and flowers. Here are other names fo Aio Koa in different languages.

In Maori it could also be Kakano Putiputi
In Hawaiian, it could be Ano Pua
In Samoan, it could be Fatu Falaau
In Philipino, it could be Buto Bulaklak
In Indian (400 dialects), it could be Vithu Puavu
In Hebrew, it could be Z’roa Parach
In Assyrian it could be Barzar’a Warda
In French, it could be Graine Fleur
In German, it could be Saat Blume

I just asked some native speakers for their translation of seed, flower. Or looked up on the Google. Now I know scholars from all languages will argue over the correct names. Bit like the correct name of God. People have argued. I don't really know or care.

That’s why I just use the seeds and the flowers.

All over the world there are seeds and flowers. Here in New Zealand. In the Pacific. In the desert. In Europe. In Asia. In the Amazon. In the Arctic. The Serengeti. On the worst battle fields. The natural wonders of the world. Everywhere there are seeds and flowers. Each seed and flower was created with its family of forest, soil, water, climate and culture in mind. This is the natural way.

So what?

Well, you must find your own natural way. Create your own name for Aio Koa. Say it in a language that fits your soul. Not mine or anyone else. Seek inspiration from the seeds and flowers around you right now. You must make this knowledge your own. Your very own nature will show you how. Your own life will determine what will grow. And what will not.

You are your own sleeping seed, wild flower.

The same principles that make a seed grow and a flower bloom makes your life grow and bloom.

You see each seed and flower must grow within the soil, climate and culture that suit it. Growing according to its own natural way. Desert flowers grow in their own natural way. Rainforest flowers grow in their own natural way. Alpine flowers grow in their own natural way. Swamp flowers grow in their own natural way. Prairie flowers grow in their own natural way. Coral reefs grow in their own natural way. And so on all over the world. All different yet all connected. Same essence underneath but different substance on top. Just like the many cultures, civilisations and peoples of the world. We must allow each one to grow according to their own natural way. When we join families and cultures together, we must look to the seeds and flowers for inspiration. Don't try to grow a desert flower in a rainforest. Or a swamp lily in the desert. Hmmm why is it not growing? Hello, wake up and smell the flowers. They will tell you.

When new seeds and flowers come together from different species and countries, there is an universal ceremony that nature oversees. There is a rebalancing and regenerating of the entire family circle. New offspring and new colonies will evolve in harmony with the old. A fusion of new lineages that creates a stronger whole. Any abnormality will be eventually be normalised. Nature always finds a balance. Species will die. New ones will emerge. This is part of the natural way.

Energy Is All Around Us

Everything around us is alive. Nah, not in terms of blood and human thinking but in terms of energy. A rock is alive. A mountain is alive. A tree is alive. The universe is alive. Even when we are dead, we are alive. In spirit. Outside the form of flesh.

Energy vibrates between physical form and metaphysical field. Little seeds or cells of energy are zipping around like fireflies inside the dark caverns of creation. Getting in-formation to appear as Koa matter. Pushing up into the REAL world. Then zapping backwards to disappear into the unified field called the Universe. Quantum physics uses bigger words then mine but this is essentially the story behind the science.

Energy has its cycles and seasons. There are seasons within seasons. Orbits within orbits. Worlds within worlds. Infinite fields within infinite fields of infinite possibility. Everything is connected because we all come from the same basic stuff. There is a part of you in everything. A bit of everything in you.

You got to learn to FEEL the fields. You are a field. Feel the Field. Feel the Force. Not think but feel. Bit like breathing. You can think about breathing. Or just feel the air expand inside your lungs.

The words of the poet William Blake sums up the feeling

To see the world in a grain of sand
A heaven in the wild flower
To hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in the hour.

The Seed, The Flower, The Family

Your thoughts are like seeds. Some are new. Just planted now after reading this. Some are old beliefs with deep roots. Planted when you were a kid. Or planted even before you were born.

If you are unhappy with your life, your family, your work, your world then you need to look at your seed thoughts and root beliefs. If the seed thought is just an annoying ad on TV, change the channel. Sweep it from your mind. Gone. Now if you have a deep sadness and tears flow when you think of a certain place in a country that you have never been to. Then go deep into your memories. Into your deep subconscious mind. Look underground. Among the hidden memories and look at what was planted. Maybe it might be a memory that came down from your ancestors. Six or seven generations ago or further. Or it could be a past memory when you remember something from before this life. These memories are like seeds which can flower into tears of joy or pain. They can become part of your current behaviours and habits. Influencing your adult life. Whether you like it or not, they can influence your children. And their children. The seeds beget flowers. The flowers beget new generations of seeds. The cycles continue. Unless you change the seed energy. Go back to the original memory and change the seed energy. Change the planting ceremony. Add the missing peace and recycle the old energy. Remember the new energy can flow across time, space and generations instantaneously.

Look at the picture below? Stages of a human life. It is during the early years when we learn beliefs and behaviours that shape us in adult life. Our names. Learning to walk, to talk, to read, to write. Go to the toilet. Dress ourselves. Buy something. Right or left. On and on it goes. The energy around these beliefs and behaviours can get passed on from generation to generation.

Yet our lives follow the same cycles as in Nature. Just compare A Human Life above with the Life of a Tree below.

This is why we must look to Nature to make changes. The seeds, the flowers, the fruits and the trees are teachers. Look at the relationships within the forest or the family. We must balance out any extremes. Allows things to have their seasons. The same patterns affect our thoughts. We must recultivate and pull up old beliefs. Recycle and burn them as nutrients. Clear away the crap and stuff. Got to keep sweeping and cleaning.

You need to shine the light over your thoughts.

You might need to recultivate your thinking as below. The Maori numbers Tahi, Rua, Toru, Haa are metaphors for growth.

1. Tahi. Sweep the Fields of Your Life.
Sweep your life. Sweep your mind. Find what is working. Note what is not. The outside world is where our inner beliefs and reactions get tested. People. Judgements. Work. Traffic Jams. Stress. Religion. The list goes on. Clear the crap. Sweep and burn old beliefs. Recycle fears into nutrients. You can do it consciously or wait for a wakeup call to do it for you. Your choice.

2. Rua. Go into the Cave.
You must go into your deepest core. Connect with the sleeping seed that still dreams. The infant star that can brighten up your whole world. You must seed your mind with thoughts from your deepest core and your highest cause. Hunt and track your every thought, feeling, action and reaction so that you are in alignment with this inner truth.

3. Toru. Root down, Grow up.
You gotta nurture and grow this embryonic seed-thought into flesh. It might be a major life transformation or just a subtle change. Like planting a whole new forest or just turning over a new leaf. It is what is true for you. Remember more shit and stuff will get thrown daily over this vulnerable shoot. Use some as fertiliser. Guard the tender seedling. Love it. Feed it daily. Until it is ready to breath and live free.

4. Haa. Breath of Life.
Aha, it is alive. Your dream is alive. Like a baby taking its first breath, start to live from your place of truth. This is the flowering and fruiting of your efforts. It may last for a moment or a lifetime. Only you will know what this means for you. Enjoy. Remember the seasons apply to you as well. Nothing good or bad lasts forever.

Keep repeating the cycle. Have a breather then sweep again. Plant fresh thoughts. Grow some more. Breathe it. Bee it. Share it.

Yep, the Aio Koa is simple in principle but not easy to practice.
